5 Best Quiz Makers for Small Businesses

Learning about your audience is never a bad idea. Regular quizzes are a perfect way to find out more about your audience’s preferences, wants, and needs.

You can use this information to not only create new offers that are tailored to your clients and customers but also to refine existing ones and make them even better.

But before you create a quiz, you’re going to need a reliable quiz maker and that’s what this article is all about. I’ll go over the five best quiz makers for small businesses and their core features so you can find the best quiz maker for your needs.

Best Quiz Makers for Small Businesses

Let's look at five best quiz makers for small businesses and what they have to offer. I’ll cover simple as well as more advanced tools so you can find the best fit for you based on your needs.

Opinion Stage

First up, we have Opinion Stage. Opinion Stage is a dedicated quiz maker that can help you create quizzes, polls, and surveys for lead generation, getting feedback from your clients or customers, conducting market research, and so much more.

Opinion Stage is easy to use and has a user-friendly interface that allows you to create your quiz in just a few minutes.

There are several ways to create a quiz with Opinion Stage:

  • You can start from scratch if you already have a set of questions and a general structure for your quiz.

  • You can paste a list of questions, and the tool will turn them into an interactive quiz.

  • You can use built-in templates as a starting point.

  • You can use AI to help you create the first draft of your quiz and refine it from there.

You can customize the look of your quiz by using any of the pre-built quiz visual themes or by adding your own logo, colors, and fonts. You can also set different layouts for answers to make your quiz even more visually appealing.

On top of that, Opinion Stage makes it easy to create different results with calls to action that can point to different products or offers you have in your business.

You can integrate Opinion Stage through Zapier with different email marketing platforms such as MailerLite, ConvertKit, and others.

A few other notable features include conditional logic, the ability to close the quiz at a specific time, randomizing the answers, and the option to let users add their own answers.

As far as sharing your quiz, you have a couple of options. You can embed it directly into your website, or you can share a direct link to the quiz. Opinion Stage integrates with WordPress, Squarespace, Wix, Shopify, and any other website that allows you to embed code in your website pages.

When it comes to pricing, Opinion Stage has a free plan that allows you to collect up to 25 responses per month. However, unlike many other quiz tools on the market, it doesn’t limit you in terms of platform integrations or the number of quizzes and questions you can create and add to your quiz.

Best for: any small business or solopreneur that wants to build a lead generation, audience segmentation, or market research quiz and needs advanced features such as conditional logic and mapping answers to different results.

Google Forms

Next, we have Google Forms which you can use for more than just quizzes and polls. While not as robust as Opinion Stage, Google Forms does have several templates for creating assessments, quizzes, and course evaluations as well as several addons for creating quizzes.

However, you can also create a simple quiz from scratch. Google Forms allows you to add all kinds of different questions such as multiple choice, linear scale, ratings, and more.

You can assign points for each question, making Google Forms a good tool if you want to grade the quiz participants. You can use this for employee education but also incorporate it into an offer like an online course or a membership and want to ensure your clients are progressing through the materials.

Getting started with Google Forms is straightforward. Simply head to Google Forms and then click the Start a New Form button. From there, you can add all kinds of questions to your quiz.

If you’re building a quiz to learn more about your audience, all you have to do is publish the form once you’re done and then share the link through your newsletter or post about it on social media.

If you want to grade your employees or your course students, you’ll want to head into the Settings and toggle the option to turn this into a quiz. You’ll then have the option to assign points for each question and configure other options.

While customization options are limited, you can still make your quiz look on brand by adding your brand colors and uploading a custom header image. As far as fonts go, you’re limited to Google Fonts and there is no way to upload custom fonts.

As for pricing, Google Forms is completely free but as mentioned earlier, lacks the advanced features that dedicated quiz tools like Opinion Stage offer.

Best for: if you have a small business or are a solopreneur and want a free tool to create a simple survey or a quiz to test employee or client progress through any training materials, courses, and similar.

It’s important to note that there is no way to map responses to different results based on the answers your participants choose, like you can with a tool like Opinion Stage. If that’s important for your quiz, Google Forms might not be the best option for you.

Survey Monkey

Survey Monkey is another dedicated quiz maker that you can use to create quizzes, surveys, polls, and more.

It is a very complex tool that allows you to start from scratch, create a quiz using AI or use proven research methods such as user testing and similar to create your quiz.

The interface is modern but it can be a little overwhelming if you’re new to building quizzes. You can create multi-page quizzes with all kinds of question types, including star rating, multiple choice, best/worst scale, slider, and more.

You can customize how your quiz looks either by using one of the pre-made themes or by creating your own theme from scratch.

SurveyMonkey integrates with numerous apps and third-party tools and can be added to any website that allows you to embed code. You can also share your quiz via link or embedding it in a mobile app and more.

As far as pricing goes, SurveyMonkey has a free plan that allows for 25 responses but it’s very limited in terms of features. For example, you can’t create a custom theme for your quiz or add questions types such as rating, matrix scale, and similar.

Best for: medium and large businesses that need a robust tool for conducting in-depth market research or customer satisfaction quizzes.

Instagram Quiz Sticker

If the idea of creating a full-blown quiz is overwhelming, fear not. You can start with something super simple and use Instagram's Quiz Sticker. This gives you the opportunity to ask a question and offer up to four choices on Instagram Stories.

It’s an easy way to get a quick answer when you need it - you can use this to let your followers choose the topic of your next content piece, choose a product color, or even decide what product they’d like you to create next.  Keep in mind that you will need to assign both correct and incorrect answers to your quiz as the sticker works on a trivia quiz principle.

On top of that, you can also use Instagram Polls with feed posts as well so you’re not limited to Stories alone.

All you have to do is open up your Instagram app, click the + sign to create a new post, and then Post or Story. If you’re using Story, click the Sticker icon and select the Poll sticker. If you’re creating a regular feed post, you’ll have an option to add a poll when you add the caption to your post.

This option is completely free but probably the most limited in terms of features and functionality out of all the tools mentioned here.  Keep in mind, though, that unlike other tools in this article, Instagram doesn’t allow you to analyze data or collect leads’ emails.

Best for: if the majority of your audience uses Instagram and you want a super-simple way to engage your audience.

Squarespace Form Blocks

And lastly, if you’re using Squarespace, you can use the built-in form block to create a simple quiz and learn more about your audience. I have an in-depth tutorial that explains how to use Squarespace Forms to create a quiz but here’s the shortened version:

  1. Create a page for your quiz

  2. Add a form block

  3. Set up your quiz questions - you can add as many questions as you want, including regular questions and survey questions where they can rate their answer on a pre-set scale

  4. Customize your form using the built-in styling settings for the Form blocks

  5. Set up storage submissions and publish your quiz.

Squarespace Form blocks are included with your Squarespace plan so if you’re already using Squarespace, you don’t have to pay extra for the quiz option. However, do keep in mind that, like Google Forms, the features are limited when compared to a tool like Opinion Stage or Survey Monkey.

Best for: if you’re a small business owner who already uses Squarespace and doesn't need complex quizzes but want a simple way to learn more about your audience’s preferences. Similarly to Google Forms, there is no way to map results to different answers so if that’s something you need, Squarespace form block is not a good choice.

Final Thoughts

And there you have it. Use the information in this article to find the best quiz maker for your needs and use it to create your first quiz for your audience.
