Best Places to Find Squarespace Plugins

Squarespace does many great things out of the box. Sometimes, though, you really need an extra feature like an accordion tab or a testimonial slider and there is no way to add this to your site with built-in features.

That’s exactly where Squarespace plugins come in handy. They allow you to break free of the template limitations and add missing features to your Squarespace website.

So where do you find these awesome Squarespace plugins? And what are Squarespace plugins anyway? That’s what this post is all about. I’ll share my favorite resources and Squarespace plugin shops for your website.

What Are Squarespace Plugins?

Squarespace plugins are little snippets of code that you add to your website. The code can be CSS code that changes the style of a particular element on your website. It can also involve a bit of JavaScript which adds extra functionality to your site.

For example, a sidebar plugin includes both JavaScript and CSS code that you need to add to your site. Once you’ve added it to your site, your blog will have an awesome sidebar on blog pages and blog posts.

How do I add Squarespace plugins to my website?

It depends from plugin to plugin as each plugin is different. Typically, you’ll need to add the code to one of three places (in some cases, you might need to add the code to multiple places):

  • In the header or footer under Code Injection Area for the entire website

  • In the header or footer under Code Injection Area for a specific page where you want a feature to appear

  • In Custom CSS area under Design settings

The good news is that each plugin comes with a set of instructions that tell you where to add each snippet of code and most of these Squarespace plugin shops even offer installation assistance for an additional fee.
