No matter what kind of business you have, you're probably using at least one social media platform for marketing purposes. Facebook, Instagram, TikTok are some of the most popular ones and some of the best places to put your business in front of your ideal audience.
And even though you might use social media to market your business, eventually, you want them to come over to your website.
That's why it's important to brand your social media profiles and maintain brand consistency throughout your entire online presence. But how do you actually do that? That's what today's post is all about.
In this post, I'll cover the importance of brand consistency and show you how to stay consistent with your branding on your social media profiles.
Why Is Brand Consistency Important
The most important reason why brand consistency matters is that it's a lot easier to stand out in a noisy social media environment when you have a consistent, unique brand style.
Secondly, brand consistency provides your visitors with a seamless experience when they eventually visit your website. Whether they click through from Instagram or your Facebook business page, they'll know that they are in the right place simply because the visuals are consistent on all your platforms.
The third reason why brand consistency matters is that it builds brand recognition and trust. By maintaining a consistent look and feel, your followers will begin to notice and recognize your posts without necessarily having to look for a username to see who posted it.
Finally, brand consistency helps you create a memorable experience that your followers will associate not only with your brand but also your content.
How to Brand Your Social Media Profiles for Brand Consistency
Brand consistency involves more than using your brand colors everywhere. So with that in mind, here are 5 tips to help you maintain a consistent brand.
1. Use The Same Profile Image
Ideally, you'd want to use the same profile image on each social media platform where you have an active presence. This makes it easier for people to recognize you. It works even better if the image is the same as the one on your homepage or about page.
2. Use A Consistent Cover Photo
Similarly, if you're using Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter or Youtube, your cover photo should be the same. You can easily create it using a tool like Canva and then resizing it to fit every other platform.
A pro tip for your cover image is to include a mockup of your lead magnet along with a call to action to come check out your website to download it.
3. Use The Same Social Media Handle
Using the same handle on each social media channel makes it easy for your audience to recognize your profile. However, it's not uncommon for your desired handle to be taken.
If that happens, you can create a slight variation by including what you do. If you end up doing that, be sure to update your handle on all other social media platforms as well.
4. Use A Consistent Brand Voice
Beyond the visuals, your brand voice should be consistent throughout all your marketing channels and materials. It should reflect your brand personality and generally have the same tone.
If you're building a personal brand, the best tip is to simply write as you normally speak. For example, if you're naturally happy, positive, and upbeat, your tone of voice should match that personality. There is no need to try and create a different brand voice for your business.
It won't make you sound more professional. On the contrary, it will make it harder for you to write your content as you will continually have to try to sound different. Your audience can pick up on that and it can create a disconnect.
Don't forget to consider your audience, as you always should when it comes to branding. Your brand voice should meet your audience's expectations. Feel free to include any jargon and references that are important to them as that will build trust and familiarity with them.
5. Take Advantage of Social Media Templates
The last tip I have for you is to create social media templates for each platform. Again, you can easily do this with a tool like Canva.
All you have to do is set up your brand kit within Canva, create a template for the platform you use the most and then make use of the Magic Resize tool within Canva to resize the template for each additional platform.
By doing so, you’ll be able to effortlessly maintain a consistent look and brand image across all your social media channels.

Maintaining a consistent look and feel on your social media profiles makes it easy to build brand awareness, stand out, and even save time on creating your weekly social media content.
